sandy mcknight, to be exact. besides being a founder of BOOM, i also write songs and sketch comedy, producer recordings for bands and singer/songwriters, and write plays and musicals. as a founding member of CAT (columbia arts team), i’ve produced many live events, at the egg and the linda in albany, helsinki in hudson, and many other venues. i also work with kids in theater workshops, and teach a songwriting workshop. my songs have appeared (and then, just as suddenly, disappeared) in many tv shows, and a few films. i was in many bands: in the 70s i was in a jazz fusion group, a boogie rock band, a working disco band, and a couple of pop-oriented new wave bands that played at places like CBGBs and max’s kansas city. in the 80s i recorded many songs, and played bass in sessions, including with m. frog of utopia at todd’s home studio. i’ve lived in london, l.a., and of course nyc. now living in lee. my latest endeavors are: developing a ‘school’ to help people in the arts learn the ropes; creating a tv series based on a band’s struggle to make it in the music biz; and a children’s musical. i’m a mets and ny giants fan. i don’t like to capitalize when i type, as it gets in the way of my thought stream, though i tell people it’s an homage to e.e. cummings. i’ve been happily married for 14 years…out of 19. kidding liv! don’t hesitate to ask me stuff…i’ll try to help, or steer yu in the right direction.

What BOOM Does.

BOOM is dedicated to increasing the viability and visibility of original music in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts. We are a non-profit company, part of Columbia Arts Team.

Our mission is to highlight, showcase, and cultivate the original music scene in Berkshire County and environs. This includes promoting local venues that feature local original music; providing access to information about the music business, songwriting, and other important subjects of interest to area musicians; and coordinating resources within the region, including local media, in order to promote local original music and encourage the patronage and support of the community at large.
